The curriculum for DFGSO 2 and DFGSO 3 provides an introduction to hands-on dental procedures and techniques. It includes theoretical instruction and practical exercises using simulators, which enable students to master the procedures they will later perform on patients. Foreign language and epidemiology courses round out this program.
The thematic areas for DFGSO 2 and DFGSO 3 are grouped into five disciplinary clusters, each broken down into course units:
- Section 1: embryology, developmental biology, histology, microbiology, general immunology, pathological anatomy, genetics, hematology, oncology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and major drug classes; practical training in the various disciplines.

– Graduate Level: Advanced Training Diploma in Dental Sciences, 4th and 5th years
During these two years, students are granted the status of dental interns. They complete clinical rotations at dental clinics and participate in hospital-based clinical duties.
At the end of the fifth year, students take the Clinical and Therapeutic Synthesis Certificate exam. This certificate allows them to prescribe medications and health products on their own, to fill in for dental surgeons during their vacations, or to work as an assistant to a dental surgeon.
– Short postgraduate program: Short Postgraduate Training Diploma (6th year)
The sixth year of study corresponds to a short postgraduate program (DFTCC). It focuses on a holistic approach to patient care and prepares students to practice independently. Upon completion of this program, students must enroll in the thesis year and may defend their thesis during the period from October through the end of June and from September through the end of October.
Upon successful completion of the thesis defense, the student will be awarded the State Diploma of Doctor of Dental Surgery.
