ACCESS TO HEALTH STUDIES, INFORMATION FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

- 2nd and 3rd year general training diplomas in odontological sciences
Teaching in DFGSO 2 and DFGSO 3 is an introduction to oral practice and gestures. It includes theoretical training and practical work on simulators, enabling students to acquire the skills they will later need to perform on patients. Foreign languages and epidemiology are also taught.
The thematic orientations for DFGSO 2 and DFGSO 3 are grouped into five disciplinary units:
- Section 1: embryology, developmental biology, histology, microbiology, general immunology, pathological anatomy, genetics, hematology, oncology, biochemistry, pharmacology and major drug classes, practical training in the various disciplines.
- Section 2: general anatomy, major systems, cervicocephalic anatomy, dental anatomy, general physiology, orofacial physiology, physics, biophysics, medical imaging, biomaterials, practical teaching of the various disciplines.
- Section 3: semiology, oral-maxillo-dental pathology, multidisciplinary approach, surgical odontology, periodontology, oxyology and first-aid techniques.
- Section 4: prosthetic dentistry, practical training in prosthetic dentistry, conservative and restorative dentistry - endodontics, practical training in conservative and restorative dentistry - endodontics.
- Section 5: Dentofacial orthopedics, pediatric dentistry, public health.
- 2nd cycle: Diplôme de Formation Approfondie en Sciences Odontologiques 4th and 5th years
During these two years, students obtain the status of dental externs. They carry out internships in dental care centers and participate in hospital duties.
At the end of the fifth year, students take the Certificate of Clinical and Therapeutic Synthesis. This certificate enables them to prescribe drugs and health products themselves, to fill in for dentists on vacation or to work as a dental surgeon's assistant.
- 3rd short cycle: Diplôme de Formation de Troisième Cycle Court (6th year)
The sixth year of study corresponds to a short 3rd cycle (DFTCC). It is devoted to a global approach to the patient and preparation for independent professional practice. At the end of this course, students must register for a thesis year, which they can defend from October to the end of June and from September to the end of October.
Once the thesis has been defended, the student is awarded the Diplôme d'Etat de Docteur en Chirurgie Dentaire.
