Center for dental care, teaching and research

Located a stone's throw from the Faculty of Odontology on a veritable odontology campus, the Centre de Soins, d'Enseignement et de Recherche Dentaires (CSERD) opened its doors to the public in 1998. Designed to train students in dentistry, the center provides consultations and care for outpatients and patients referred by hospital departments. It is the hospital side of the Montpellier CHRU's training, care and research in dentistry.

Clinical training for students

Clinical training at the CSERD is provided by the Faculty of Odontology's bi-affiliated, hospital-based teaching staff, primarily for4th,5th and6thyear odontology students, over 200 of whom spend their internship there. The CSERD medical team also includes3rd-yearcontinuing education students, as well as interns enrolled in one of the three Odontology streams.

With 6 treatment rooms and 7 private surgeries, the center enables students to perfect and deepen their skills in the following disciplines: conservative odontology, endodontics, pediatric odontology, prosthetics, oral surgery, implantology, periodontics, orthodontics, occlusodontics, sports odontology, specific care and disabilities, gerodontology, sleep pathologies and dysfunctions of the manducatory apparatus.

What kind of care does CSERD offer?

At the CSERD, students are supervised and guided by university hospital lecturers, and carry out the full range of dental treatments, including more specialized care in implantology, medical periodontics, computer-assisted prosthetics (CAD/CAM), maxillofacial prosthetics and more. For these specific treatments, the center is equipped with special surgeries featuring state-of-the-art equipment, as well as outpatient surgery in synergy with the hospital departments and operating theatres of the Montpellier CHRU.
