Center for Dental Care, Education, and Research

Located just a stone’s throw from the School of Dentistry on a dedicated dental campus, the Center for Dental Care, Education, and Research (CSERD) opened its doors to the public in 1998. Designed to train dental students, the center provides consultations and treatment to outpatients and patients referred by hospital departments. It serves as the hospital-based component of dental education, care, and research at the Montpellier University Hospital (CHRU).

Clinical Training for Students

Clinical training at CSERD is provided by faculty members from the School of Dentistry who are affiliated with both the school and the hospital, and is primarily intended for4th-,5th-,and 6th-yeardental students, more than 200 of whom complete their clinical rotations there.Postgraduatestudents in continuing education, as well as residents and students enrolled in one of the three dental programs, are also part of the CSERD medical team.

Equipped with 6 treatment rooms and 7 private offices, the center allows students to refine and deepen their skills in the following disciplines: conservative dentistry, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, implantology, periodontology, orthodontics, occlusal dentistry, sports dentistry, specialized care and care for patients with disabilities, geriatric dentistry, sleep disorders, and masticatory system dysfunctions.

What types of care does the CSERD offer?

At CSERD, students are supervised and guided by university hospital faculty and perform the full range of dental care, including more specialized treatments in implantology, medical periodontology, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) prosthetics, maxillofacial prosthetics, and more. For these specific procedures, the center is equipped with dedicated treatment rooms featuring state-of-the-art equipment, and care is provided in coordination with the hospital departments and outpatient surgery suites at the Montpellier University Hospital (CHRU).
