Signing of the Partnership Agreement between UM, Montpellier University Hospital, and Perpignan Hospital

Three academic and hospital institutions in Occitanie affirm their commitment to working together!

On Friday, June 19, 2026,the University of Montpellier and its faculties, the Montpellier University Hospital, and the Perpignan Hospital Center signed a framework agreement for a regional university-hospital partnership to implement a coordinated strategy for healthcare, education, and research in support of the regional healthcare network.

A Strategic Alliance for Health in Occitanie.

This agreement marks a decisive milestone in the history of the Perpignan Hospital Center and in its relationship with its academic partners.

It is committed to a culture of cooperation and continuous improvement to serve patients, students, and healthcare professionals as they face challenges related to the distribution of healthcare professionals and growing healthcare needs.

These are:

  • to enhance the appeal of the Occitanie region—and the Pyrénées-Orientales in particular—to students and, more broadly, to healthcare professionals.
  • to support their long-term settlement by improving working conditions and promoting training and career paths tailored to the region’s needs.
  • to strengthen ties between the university—through its health-related academic departments—and hospitals in order to promote high-quality training programs.
  • to pursue a common strategy and jointly promote clinical research projects through a dedicated entity.
