In Montpellier, June 10 , 2022 – Five third-year dental surgery students, in collaboration with the Tsiky association, are organizing a humanitarian trip this summer 2022.

For several months now, Fitiavana RAKOTOVAO, solidarity manager at CECDM, has been working with four colleagues on a humanitarian project in Madagascar to set up various prevention initiatives for Malagasy children during a trip planned for July 2022.

Objectives of the trip: To screen for and treat oral diseases through fluoridation and fissure sealing, as well as to carry out a prevention campaign among Malagasy children in two schools in Majunga.

This project is in partnership with the TSIKY association, which is committed to children's health and education. For 10 years, Tsiky has enabled every child it supports to benefit from a healthcare system with rapid and free access to treatment. In figures, there are nearly 4,500 beneficiary children in six public primary schools. The objectives for 2025 are to work in 10 schools with 8,000 children.

Fundraising began with the creation of an online money pot and really took off during a pin sale at the gala organized by ADDAM on June 4 at the Domaine de Grandmont. This initiative raised nearly €200, a significant amount that will help cover the cost of the equipment needed for the mission scheduled to take place in a month's time.

On July 1, the students are organizing a gala to continue their mission and reach their goal of raising €2,000. The event will take place at Villa Sup'Perform, run by Antony JULIA, one of the project's main sponsors.

A Madagascan group will perform to showcase the culture, and traditional dishes will be served to provide an authentic immersion experience.

The gala will promote this project of mutual aid and fraternity by achieving the fundraising goal. "We hope to see many of you there to join our project. You too can help us keep smiles on the faces of Madagascan children!" says Fitiavana Rakotovao.
